National Education Support Professionals Day is Nov. 20, 2019. It honors and recognizes the contributions education support professionals (ESPs) make to public education. It is a time to strengthen support and show respect for ESPs, who are equal and essential partners in public education.
The National Education Support Professionals Day was established in 1987, at the NEA Representative Assembly called for the creation of a special way to honor the contributions of public school support staff.
We are the people who drive your children to school. Para educators assist the students in learning in the classroom. Nursing health and therapy support assist the children in everyday life. ESPs help the children cross the street, provide them nutritious meals, answer the telephones and emails, and keep school buildings maintained and the grounds clean, safe and secure. Plus don’t forget, the skill trades and technical services and all that they do for the children. We are parents, grandparents, neighbors and community volunteers who want our students to achieve success throughout their lives.
Please keep in mind on Nov. 20 to thank your educational support professionals and all employees working in our public schools. I know firsthand that we are always very proud to have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many young people.
